Providing Quality Care to LGBT Patients

CE credit: 2 Speaker: Alex Karydi

In this two hour webinar, participants will learn ways to provide affirming and inclusive health care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, or LGBT, patients. LGBTQ populations must navigate the typical challenges of life while also managing the social stigma associated with their emerging sexual and gender minority identities. As a result, many LGBT individuals are at higher risk for certain behavioral and emotional issues, homelessness, victimization, and suicide. This module discusses the unique health and developmental challenges of LGBT populations, and describes ways to address these issues in the clinical setting. Through sensitive, confidential communication, clinicians can become a vital source of support for this vulnerable population

CE Credits: 1.50 Speaker(s): Melissa Fritchle The most common sexual complaint clients will bring to couples therapy is low sexual desire, for one of both partners. In this webinar Ms Fritchle will look at the newest diagnostic features for low desire and talk about the discrepancies in how to define low desire at all. Ms Fritchle will outline a holistic sexual assessment that takes into account the interrelated physical, social, relational, spiritual, and mental aspects that can impact desire.
