AAMFT Position on Couples and Families

AAMFT believes that all couples who willingly commit themselves to each other, and their children, have a right to expect equal support and benefits in civil society. Thus, we affirm the right of all committed couples and their families to legally equal benefits, protection, and responsibility.

AAMFT Clarification of Facts

The AAMFT Board is committed to acting with integrity, transparency, and accountability. We are committed to seizing the opportunities and facing the challenges for our field, creating strategies for success, and implementing them effectively.

An anonymous group has chosen to publish and disseminate allegations about AAMFT that are inaccurate, untrue, and in some instances defamatory. To address these inaccuracies, and to protect the reputation and resources of AAMFT, the AAMFT Board of Directors has established a page to provide factual information in response to the allegations of the group that refers to itself as MFTers for Change, or Call for Change.

As the premier association for marriage and family therapists, AAMFT is the home to professionals working with individual, couples and families from a relationship perspective.
