Understanding the Duty to Warn: A Guide for Therapists and MFTs

When a client expresses a threat of harm toward others, knowing exactly when, how, and whom to warn is critical not only for public safety but also for protecting your clinical license and practicing ethically. Participants will learn how to conduct robust violence risk assessments, distinguish between venting and an explicit threat, execute proper disclosure protocols, and document their clinical decisions ethically.
