This session is aimed at promoting therapy and support of LGBTQI+ populations as a public health priority to prevent or reduce behaviors associated with family rejection of LGBTQI+ populations by providing developmentally appropriate support, counseling, or information to parents, families, caregivers, child welfare, and school personnel, or health care professionals on how to support an LGBTQI+ individuals safety and well-being.

Love Wins: A Dialogue with Nelba Marquez-Greene

One of those children lost was 6-year old Ana, daughter of AAMFT Clinical Fellow Nelba Márquez-Greene. In the ensuing two and a half years, her life re-shaped by the tragic events, Ms. Márquez-Greene has been driven by her family motto “love wins” and a desire to ensure her daughter’s life is remembered twice as loudly as her death. Her journey has led her to every level of government, media, and the public to increase understanding and awareness to prevent violence and promote healing.
