Clinical Evaluative Application Process  
 

Based on the answers provided in the preceding questions, you are eligible to apply for Clinical Membership with the AAMFT.  In order to apply for Clinical Membership you need to complete a Clinical Evaluative Track Application.  You can obtain the application by downloading the application below or emailing/telephoning us and requesting that we mail a Clinical Evaluative Track Application to you. 

The following is a summary of the requirements necessary for Clinical Membership under the evaluative track.  Click here, for the full set of requirements or download the application below.

1. Master's or Doctoral degree in MFT or related mental health field from a regionally accredited institution.
2. Must successfully complete the 11 required courses outlined in the AAMFT Curriculum Guidelines, either during the graduate program, or in a post-degree training program accepted by the AAMFT. Click here, to download the AAMFT Curriculum Guidelines.
3. Supervised clinical practicum completed during graduate program.  The practicum consists of minimum 1 year, 300 hours of supervised direct client contact with individuals, couples, and families.
4. Minimum 2 years, 1,000 hours of clinical work experience in marriage and family therapy, completed concurrently with 200 hours of supervision.  At least 100 of the 200 hours must be individual supervision.  Supervision must be completed with an AAMFT Approved Supervisor or supervisor candidate.  An alternate supervisor may be approved by the AAMFT on a case-by-case basis.
