Recently an anonymous group of dissenters in AAMFT posted on a blog and in a group email some information about a current AAMFT bylaw vote that we believe is misinformed. We know the call for action in that email will harm AAMFT, especially members and divisions in Canada.

Hawaii Charter Status
The AAMFT Board of Directors voted to end the existing charter relationship with HAMFT, Inc., which has been known as the Hawaii Division of AAMFT, effective May 31, 2011. This action was taken after several months and many interactions with the President of the HAMFT, who through this period has spoken on behalf of, and presumably with the authority of the HAMFT Board of Directors.

Psychotherapy Networker
Recently, as President of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) I was contacted by a representative of the Psychotherapy Networker to inquire about an interview on matters of AAMFT operations, policies, and processes. He asked questions about a state division of AAMFT, AAMFT’s elections process, membership statistics, and plans for the future. After discussion, the AAMFT Board decided not to give an interview to the Networker about any of these matters.
