A Letter From The President

As you know, the AAMFT Board of Directors has been involved in a national search for a new Executive Director. The Board hired Vetted Solutions, a national search firm located in the DC area, to assist us in this process. Some of you may have met with James Zaniello and Judy Walker at the annual conference in Charlotte, where you would have heard about the search process. Input from AAMFT staff and member stakeholders as well as from the Board was sought as James and Judy prepared the candidate profile for our search.

We had a number of excellent applicants and Vetted Solutions selected eight candidates all of whom they believed were qualified to be the Executive Director of AAMFT. The Board ultimately considered all eight candidates and through a process facilitated by James and Judy, we narrowed that number to four who were interviewed in person by the entire Board. At the conclusion of the initial interviews, the Board selected two finalists who were invited to a second round of interviews, again with the entire Board. From these two, the Board unanimously selected Dr. Tracy Todd as the individual we wanted to serve as the next Executive Director. We are delighted that he has accepted the position. Tracy will begin his term as Executive Director on December 15, 2012.

Many of you will know Tracy, as he has been an active member for many years, and previously served on the AAMFT Board of Directors. He has served in a professional role on staff as the Director of Professional Affairs, and for over the last year as the Deputy Executive Director of AAMFT. I’m including a short bio below if you don’t know Tracy.

Dr. Tracy Todd
Tracy Todd, PhD is a licensed marriage and family therapist (CO) and has been with AAMFT since 2008. Tracy received his PhD from Iowa State University – then a COAMFTE accredited program and his masters from Texas Tech University. Prior to joining the staff of AAMFT, Tracy was the Director/Owner of the Brief Therapy Institute of Denver, Inc. Tracy has given numerous presentations and written many articles on the business of private practice. He has also written two books on practice building. Tracy has served on the AAMFT Board of Directors (2002 – 2004), was the recipient of the AAMFT Practice Award (2000), and was a plenary speaker for AAMFT in 2000. Since his arrival at AAMFT, Tracy has held the positions of Director of Professional and Public Affairs and Deputy Executive Director. Some of Tracy’s responsibilities at AAMFT include policy creation and implementation, grant management, leadership development, conference planning, advocacy and communications/social media.

I know you will join me and the rest of the Board in welcoming Tracy as the new Executive Director of AAMFT.
