Area Information

Folk art and opera houses combine with traditional southwestern cuisine and contemporary fashion to make Santa Fe the “City Different”. Having earned this nickname because of its commitment to maintaining the architectural traditions of the region, the city of Santa Fe has flourished as a center of art, music, and cultural diversity. The city’s unique artisan markets, museums, and nearly 300 art galleries have led to international acclaim as one of nine UNESCO Creative Cities. It is the only city within the United States to receive this honor. Whether you are looking for traditional artisan crafts or exploring the Georgia O’Keefe museum, you’ll quickly see why Santa Fe is the third largest art market in the country.

If the art galleries don’t entice you, the majestic beauty of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains will. With an average 300 days of sunshine and four distinct seasons, Santa Fe offers the outdoor adventurer a wide variety of choices. Test your skills on the ski slopes of Ski Santa Fe or enjoy hiking and biking within one of the many national parks and forests nearby. The Randall Davey Audubon Center offers visitors the chance to see more than 130 species of birds while exploring their 135 acre habitat.

After a fun-filled day of arts and adventure, kick back and enjoy a fabulous meal at one of the 200 exceptional restaurants in the area, relax at one of the city’s many spas, or head out for a night of live music and dancing. Whatever you decide to do, Santa Fe will surely charm you with its unique blend of culture and beauty. To learn more about the area please visit www.santafe.org.
