About MFTs

Family Therapists are highly qualified to provide mental health services. All licensed MFTs must have a minimum of a master’s degree and at least two years of post-graduate supervised clinical experience. Thirty percent of all MFTs have a doctoral degree. Currently, 50 states and the District of Columbia recognize and license Family Therapists as independent mental health providers.

Bullying

Girl Being Bullied

Bullying affects the children targeted by the bullying behaviors to parents, teachers, and communities that have to deal with the aftermath that these behaviors have on their community. It is much more than a student issue or a school issue; it is a community and society issue as well.

Childhood Obesity

Overweight Child Eating Healthy

Childhood obesity has become the most common health problem in children today, and for the first time ever, policy makers are concerned that this generation of children may not outlive their own parents. Childhood obesity has been identified as a nationwide epidemic that impacts children regardless of sex, age, race, and ethnic group.

Depression

Depressed Woman

The symptoms of depression described above make it clear: To be depressed is to suffer. The hopelessness and helplessness that people experience when they are depressed is more than just a frame of mind at such times -- it is an entire way of being.

Marital Distress

Unhappy Couple

Everyone who is married experiences difficulties, but for some, these troubles reach the point that partners become profoundly disappointed and upset about their marriages and may even come to question whether they want to continue to remain married.
